An Example for Everyone

You hear a lot about "the cowboy way", but nothing exemplifies it as much as Cody Ohl's performance at the NFR on Friday night, December 14, 2001. Ohl, who was so far ahead in calf roping that he could have gone on vacation and still won the event, nevertheless showed the grit and determination to chase on foot, and finish roping and tying his calf - all with two torn ligaments, injured when he stepped off his horse after roping the calf. Getting the job done was Ohl's main thought - not taking the easy way out. Cody set an example for everyone that night, and did the "cowboy way" proud.
