
2003 Williams Lake Stampede Poster Artist, Anita Klein
Chosen as this year's poster artist for the Williams Lake Stampede is Cloverdale, British Columbia artistAnita Klein. Her winning submission titled "I wanna be a Cowboy" is a striking image of three cowboys looking at the viewer, eyes hidden in shadow to convey the mystery and romance of the modern day cowboy. The working cowboy centered between two rodeo cowboys speaks of the origins of rodeo and calls attention to the ranch events held at the stampede in addition to traditional rodeo events. Her colourful, contemporary painting of the west is sure to captivate rodeo fans and rodeo poster collectors alike.
The Williams Lake Stampede is the second largest rodeo held in Canada and the honour of being the 2003 poster artist will bring Anita's artwork to an international audience.
The artist will be at the Stampede on June 27, 28, 29 & 30 signing posters.
Anita received her formal art studies at the Emily Carr College of Art and hold an associate Degree in Design from Kwantlen College. Anita began her career as a graphic designer, cartoonist and illustrstor and now exhibits her work in local show and galleries.Much of Anita's work is vibrantly coloured and has a distinctive look all it's own. Acrylics, watercolour and coloured pencil are among Anita's favourite mediums. She is also known for her humorous cartoons depicting people and animals.
Anita is an active member of the FEderation of Canadian Artists and has had her work highlighted in Beef in B.C. Magazine.
